I’m so tired of seeing vegetarians being ostracized for their choice to be vegetarian… Insulting someone because they choose to have a different way of life to your own is so rude and socially inadept. You wouldn’t insult someone’s religion, so why do some people feel comfortable crudely insulting people who choose to be vegetarian? Does somebody else’s decision to be vegetarian personally affect you? No, it does not.
This is different to promoting meat consumption; you might be somebody that promotes the eating of meat, and likely, you might be somebody that promotes vegeterian. That’s tolerable, what’s annoying is seeing people trying to antagonize vegetarians on their choice to be vegetarian. I see it in the media (one of my many pet peeves on HIMYM is it’s constant reference to vegetarians and animal lovers as ‘dirty hippies’ or ‘crazy’). It’s really not ‘cool’ or ‘hip’, it’s just impertinent and socially awkward.
Holy fuckamoly. “Feminism teaches you, in loud and surly tones, that men are the root of all evil (I promise, most of us are actually pretty nice!), and that you, as a woman, are weaker, worth less, and should constantly be afraid. ”
NO, if you don’t KNOW what the foundation of feminism even IS in the first place, DO NOT write long, ridiculous rubbish about it… you sound like an uneducated, pseudo-intellectual arse. Just. No.
Especially love the ironic little pep-talk we’re given at the end.
Women, when they set their minds to it, are awesome. That’s why it totally and utterly eludes me why a woman would want to be a feminist.
Now, I can hear the haters now: “You misogynist pig! You don’t want us to have rights!” Simmer down, cave trolls. Your idiocy is showing.
Of course women deserve rights, the same as any other human being. But here’s the deal: While men & women are certainly equal, there’s another immutable fact that feminists seem to keep forgetting: Men & women are not the same. Never have been, never will be.
And here’s what feminists won’t tell you, ladies: Feminism keeps you weak. It divides you. It tells you that you are now and forever a victim of circumstance, of men, of male oppression…. even of yourselves. It keeps you downtrodden, and it teaches you to see who you are as a person as a great and terrible misfortune.
Feminism teaches you, in loud and surly tones, that men are the root of all evil (I promise, most of us are actually pretty nice!), and that you, as a woman, are weaker, worth less, and should constantly be afraid. Feminism tells you you have the inviolable right to make your own, independent choices… and then slaps you down when you disagree with the status quo.
Don’t believe me? Ask a Muslim girl what it’s like to wear a hijab in a place like a women’s studies class, or a girl who thinks it’d be awesome to stay home and be a housewife, or a pro-life woman what names she’s called by other women who supposedly support choice. If you do, I think you’ll find that “liberation” is a subtle synonym for “shut up and fall in line”.
Feminists & feminism rely on a woman swallowing the ridiculous notion that she’s a perpetual victim, locked in an eternal struggle for an equality that will never come. If you wake up and realize the truth, which is that you HAVE equality, you’re NOT a victim, and your gender ISN’T a curse or a crutch, well, the system falls apart. Feminism, in short, is a lie.. and it isn’t even a very good one.
Women, if you only take one thing away from this, let it be this: You’re every bit as good as a man. You don’t need to prove it by never shaving or spelling “women” with a “Y”. You don’t lack one single particle of what you need to be valuable, and don’t let anyone, man OR woman, tell you otherwise.
The irony of an oppressor telling the oppressed that fighting for liberation is a form of oppression….. what even.
